Leon Sensei began training with Maryuama Sensei in 1968. He was Sensei's ushi deshi and traveled with Sensei as his uke all over the United States and Japan. Besides his over 30 years of practice, Leon Sensei has trained in karate, judo and jujitsu.

Leon Sensei is the highest ranked Kokikai Instructor in the United States.
